When should I start brushing my child’s teeth?

As soon as the first tooth erupts (pops through the gums) into the mouth!

It is also a good idea to clean an infants gums even before teeth show up. After each feeding wipe gums gently with a soft, clean, damp cloth for better hygiene and to ensure they are more comfortable with a parent cleaning their mouth.

When you baby has a tooth it is time to switch to a brush with bristles! Good options are those that are labeled as “soft” or “extra soft” and small in size.
